THE NEXT RACE – Episode 4 – Training

Pregnancy is definitely been a big challenge I started off as a track cyclist and I had a coach on the track and then in 2012, for the London Olympics I decided to be a road rider and I looked for a coach but I couldn’t find one so I decided to coach myself I did what normal athletes would do when they’re looking for training tips I was looking on the internet and reading magazines and books and there was some advice, but nothing really specific in the beginning I didn’t know with training, I didn’t really know what to expect I’ve never been pregnant before so I didn’t know how my body would react I plan everyday, but since I became pregnant I didn’t plan anything it’s not possible I have to wake up in the morning and see how you’re gonna feel because every day is different training is everything that we do it’s the most important part of being a professional athlete it takes up the most time between 15 and 25 hours a week so it’s really everything that we focus on I’m always analyzing how I feel how my body feels, I know exactly how much sleep I got I know what I ate for dinner the night before I know how stressed I am and all of these things impact on training and rather than spend time communicating with somebody else I listen to my body for me the goal is the World Championships and I want to be the best in the world within 12 months of giving birth it’s a big challenge but I’m ready for it
