Meghan Markle 2018 fashion highlights


 Meghan Markle has been a fashion tour de force this year. The Duchess is one of fashion’s most influential figures and is also one of its most Googled  Everything from her Strathberry midi tote to her £49.50 M&S dress and a black ASOS maternity dress sold out, cementing her status as 2018’s biggest style icon  In 2018 Meghan used her power to support sustainable companies like Everlane and Stella McCartney, as well as small companies like Rothy’s and Scanlan Theodore  Thanks to meticulous planning Meghan’s style has been the the gift that just kept on giving with her wardrobe estimated to have cost in excess of £750,000   But this hasn’t put us off or stopped us stalking her every style move.   From her stunning custom Givenchy wedding gown, to the Dior, Brandon Maxwell, and an impressive selection of Givenchy, there have been plenty of standout looks this year   Here are just a few of our favourites. Visit to Cardiff  The engaged couple kicked of 2018 with a string of royal engagements and Meghan Mania slowly started to build   Establishing a working wardrobe of tailored separates she looked like she meant business This black Stella McCartney belted coat and Demellier bag set the tone for what was to come   Endeavour Fund Awards  Right from the start Meghan proved that she was going to do things her way   She’s a big fan of a trouser suit and has worn one on three engagements this year    Her first appearance was at the Endeavour Funds Awards in a sleek black Alexander McQueen style with a Prada clutch and black high heel courts   Women’s empowerment reception  This £295 black Black Halo dress sold out within hours   The style is very reminiscent of Roland Mouret’s designs with the asymmetric neckline and midi length   Meghan accessorised with a Gucci clutch and a pair of ankle tie Aquazurra heels   Westminster Abbey  Meghan has done her bit to promote home grown talent this year and has worn designs by Emilia Wickstead on several occasions This brocade detail skirt suit was a stunning choice and the Philip Treacy hat completed the look   Royal wedding  After months of speculation Meghan’s wedding gown was finally revealed    Opting for an Audrey Hepburn inspired custom creation by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy she didn’t disappoint Meghan wanted a modern, classic wedding dress and she knew from the outset she wanted a bateau neckline and a cropped sleeve The gown and veil were created after 3,900 hours of work by 50 people. The wedding reception  While I was a big fan of Meghan’s Givenchy’s wedding gown the dress that she changed into for the evening reception was my favourite    Designed by Stella McCartney the bespoke lily white high neck backless gown was made of silk crepe Meghan accessorised with a pair of silky satin nude mesh shoes by Aquazarra with the soles painted in baby blue   First solo outing with Queen Elizabeth  For her first royal event with the Queen in June the Duchess of Sussex clearly wanted to look her best   Travelling without her husband on Her Majesty’s private royal train Meghan needed her outfit to be perfect  Clare Waight Keller was the perfect choice and she designed a dress with clean lines, in a pale colour that reflected the Givenchy aesthetic whilst suiting the Duchesses needs 100th anniversary of Royal Air Force  The custom Dior gown that the Duchess wore for the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air force was one of my personal favourites   Featuring Meghan’s by now favourite bateau neckline and a cinched waist with a tiny belt she looked incredible   Meghan teamed the dress with a black fascinator by British milliner Stephen Jones     The Sentebale Polo Cup  It was a relaxed and confident Meghan that arrived at the Polo Cup in July   The Duchess wore a dress by one of her favourite designers Carolina Herrera.  While the belted style and midi length were familiar the denim fabric made it modern and contemporary   Meghan paired her navy dress with a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses and her favourite nude Aquazzura heels and a straw J Crew clutch The little raffia bag sold out within minutes.   The Royal tour of Sydney celebrating Anzac day  Meghan clocked up an impressive 41 outfits costing an estimated £118K on her first official royal tour With a baby bump to accommodate and hosts to please her outfits were the result of months of meticulous planning   The Duchess showcased designs by 74 different designers including Givenchy, Jasun Wu and Brandon Maxwell  Meghan did fly the flag for British fashion wearing 20 designs by homegrown talent like by Emilia Wickstead, Stella McCartney, Antonio Berardi and Burberry   She also did her bit for the high street wearing an ASOS maternity dress and £69 shirt from & Other Stories   Reception hosted by President of Fiji  This blue cape Safiyaa gown was one of the stand out pieces from the tour   Safiyaa is a bespoke London based luxury label specialising in occasion wear.   The shade of the gown was made in Fijian blue worn as a tribute to her hosts   The style was based on the Safiyaa Ginkgo cape dress but was streamlined for Meghan who opted for a style with no shoulder embellishment Australian Geographic society Gala Awards in Sydney  The Duchess ended her tour on a fashion high showcasing a fairy tale gown by Oscar de la Renta   The white tulle gown with black bonded and looped ribbon tweed laser cut birds was from the Pre-Fall 2018 collection
