Maternity Concierge for New and Expecting Moms


At Fifth Third Bank, it’s important for
us to create an environment where women can succeed at every level and at every phase
of their life. As I was meeting with different groups of
women, I really began to understand that this critical moment around family planning and
beginning to have children was an especially stressful time for our employees. I think the most challenging part of working
and being a mother is just, when I’m at work I’m at work, and when I’m at home
I’m at home. The biggest challenge is just making sure
things are planned, people are called, making appointments, getting to the grocery. I was trying to find the balance between working
full-time, being a mom full-time, and still planning for another child. I had a lot of help with my daughter, and
my family actually moved to Tampa so now I have a newborn and I’m kind of really by myself. We already had a general concierge program
called Best Upon Request that we offer to all of our employees, so as I begin to hear
about some of these specific challenges women were having, it was a natural extension to
build out a special expertise to be able to help mothers during this critical time. The Maternity Concierge Program, powered by
Best Upon Request, serves women who are pregnant, on maternity leave, and are back to work with
a child 1 year old or younger. The Maternity Concierge Program can help you
with planning doctor’s appointments, planning birthday parties. They actually gave me a list of things that
are more small children friendly, so for toddler and below, so that when I go I’m going to
feel a lot more at home. They actually booked my venue for my baby
shower. They got everything set up so I didn’t have
to worry about stressing, and it made me feel like they were very family oriented and they
care about their employees, they don’t just want you to come and do your job and leave,
they want to make sure you have a good work-life balance as well. We want to create a culture where people feel
respected and included. We know that women, mothers, are facing unique
challenges and we want to be a place that recognizes what you’re going through. We want you to feel like we get you, we know
what this time in your life is like, and we want to be there to help you. The word that keeps on coming to mind is just,
it’s innovative. This is really the first time that it’s
an employee benefit and the fact that we can also just one employee at a time, one woman
at a time, help them feel more at ease and more prepared, less stressed, I think that’s
one of the things that I love the most about working on this program. I think this program for Fifth Third is really
groundbreaking. The way that they’re supporting their employees
and really letting them know that they care about them and want them to stay, I think
that means a lot so for me, thank you Fifth Third for coming up with this program and
really developing it because it makes me feel valued and that you care about me and all
of the work that I’ve put it, I feel like it’s not gone unnoticed. We believe that having diverse representation
at all levels, at entry levels, mid-levels, and senior levels of the company makes us
a better bank. That means we have to keep women in the workforce
by being that helping hand when they need it the most.
