Breastfeeding Art Expo Community Art Project 2: Breastfeeding In Focus

So my medium being photography I first
heard about the breastfeeding project I think through social media and they were
calling artists and you know bringing their vision and passion to a project I
thought I would love to be involved and capture moms and give them those you
know memories that go by so quickly. When we heard about an Art Expo it was
shared through a Kelowna dietitian and so we kind of jumped on that as program and
then we were lucky to meet up with Renee who was part of the program. Some of the clients are clients that I have maybe photographed as newborns and knew that
they would be really fun to bring back and do a project with. Renee basically
has done all of our major life events pictures so she had asked me and of
course right away I said yes. We already have a rapport she is
amazing to work with she made me feel super comfortable
really helped me guide how to position myself and and just positive support
system. We went to a creek and decided to breastfeed in a creek
we’ve breastfed in the fall colors we are going to be doing a winter one so
just different scenarios in cafes all around just showing that breastfeeding
can be done anywhere and and then hopefully just encourage other moms who
are on that journey about the positive benefits of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding it’s
not just feeding your baby it’s relationship building and the babies
have got right attachment it really sets them up for more health better life
better overall what makes me feel good is seeing mom’s
connecting their babies and moms who saw that breastfeeding was going to be very
challenging and find out that in the long run it’s very rewarding. I think the
more comfortable you are with yourself doing it the more comfortable other
people will be so if they see that you’re super uncomfortable then then
they’re going to feel it and they’re going to feel it as well. Hopefully just
to empower moms and dads to see that breastfeeding is a really easy way to
feed baby it’s natural it’s easy and convenient if they’re one that may be on
the fence about whether or not it’s something that’s right for them maybe
just trying it and seeing and and seeing that there’s other women that they could
ask questions about – if they needed some support and just showing just the
beautiful bond that’s there
